Essentially polenta is yellow maize meal that is cooked with water like porridge and can be used as a base for toppings such as cheese, meat, or vegetables. It can also be set in the refrigerator, giving it dough-like texture, to be cut or moulded and grilled, or toasted in the oven.
Suggested use: Stir one part Polenta into one part boiling water in a saucepan and bring to the boil . Cook for 10 minutes. Stir continuously until it is smooth.
Cooking tip: Â 1 cup (250ml) raw polenta makes 4 cups (1l) cooked polenta. One serving is usually 1/2 cup (125ml) cooked Polenta
